The results of a benchmark study on the topic 'Operational Excellence in the Pharmaceutical Industry' are summarized, analyzed and presented in this book. The study was conducted by the University of St. Gallen and the International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology. More than 100 pharmaceutical production plants in more than 20 European countries participated in the study. It was the scope of the study to explore their current status of production performance with regard to the principles of 'lean management'.
